Q

How are nitrogen oxides produced

A

In hot car engines, nitrogen and oxygen from the air, react together. Nitrogen oxides formed dissolve in water to form acid

Q

How is sulfur dioxide produced

A

Sulfur is found as an impurity in fuels
When it is burned it forms SO2 (sulfur dioxide)
S+ O2 -> SO2, which dissolves in water to make sulphuric acid
