1
Q

Explain Newtons first law of motion

A

An object in motion will remain in the motion unless acted upon by an outside force

2
Q

Explain Newtons second law of motion

A

Force = mass x acceleration

3
Q

Explain Newtons third law of motion

A

For every action there is an opposite and equal reaction

4
Q

What is the conservation of energy law?

A

Energy cannot be created or destroyed. I can only change form energy can take mechanical, thermal, electrical, chemical, and nuclear forms.

5
Q

What is kinetic energy?

A
Energy that objects possess due to their motion.
KE = 1/2mv^2
M = mass (kg)
V = velocity (m/s)
KE = kinky energy (J)
6
Q

Explain potential energy vs. kinetic energy

A

Stored vs. motion

Everything has energy until the energy is enough to create a reaction where it then turns into kinetic energy.

7
Q

What is the international measurement of kinetic energy?

A

Joules

8
Q

What is kinematics?

A

The process of predicting injury patterns

9
Q

What should be considered when evaluating a trauma patients?

A
  • MOI
  • Force of energy applied
  • Anatomy
  • Energy (e.g. mass, velocity, distance, and thermal, electrical, and chemical forms)
10
Q

How is the extent of an injury defined?

A
  • The type and amount of energy applied
  • The speed with which energy is applied
  • The part of the body to which energy is applied
