- kidneys = filtration
- ureters = urine from kidneys to the bladder
- bladder = stores urine
- urethra = urine from the bladder to outside

What is the main purpose and function of the kidneys?
A
- water homeostasis
- regulation of blood pressure
- production of erythropoietin
- production of Vitamin D
- the kidneys are also part of the urinary system

Where is erythropoietin produced?
A
produced by medullary interstitial cells in response to hypoxia (low oxygen).

Explain what would happen if the kidneys do not function properly.
A
Harmful toxins will build up in the animals body which in turn will make the animal ill. Vomiting, lethargy and anorexia are a few signs that the kidneys are not functioning properly.

ADH - Anti diuretic hormone
