a strep throat infection (streptococcal infection)

membrane permeability, this allows protein, RBCs to pass into the urine
(NOT GOOD!!!)
What is happening to the Glomerular filtration rate (GFR) Glomerulonephritis
the GFR decreases
What color urine will patients have with Glomerulonephritis
brown (cola-colored) urine
S/S of Glomerulonephritis
oliguria
Other S/S of oliguria
hypervolemia
S/S:
- hypertension, dyspnea, crackles
- edema
What will the throat culture test positive for if Glomerulonephritis is present
group A beta-hemolytic streptococcus
What will the blood test positive for if Glomerulonephritis is present
antistreptolysin-O titer
What will come back on the urinalysis if Glomerulonephritis is present
- hematuria
- proteinuria
What should be decreased if the patient has Glomerulonephritis
decrease fluids, sodium, protein
Nursing care for a patient with Glomerulonephritis
- monitor I&Os
- daily weight
