1. Explain procedure and gain consent
2. ask patient to have legs up to bottom with knees relaxed outwards
3. Inspect the vulva
4. lubricate the speculum
5. insert sideways and then turn
6. insert plastic brush into the os and rotate 5 times clockwise
7. remove brush and remove speculum and cover the patient
8. Insert the brush tip into the bottle and dispose of all clinical waste in orange bin
9. Discuss with patient

Speculum exam revealed a healthy cervix with the os closed with no abnormal masses or discharge
