What is a Drivers Relief Authority?

A

DRA - filled out by driver of disabled train, dictated to TC, once submitted disabled train can only be moved by relief driver

What is the procedure when train is disabled / can’t move?

A

Check if derailed

Contact TC

Make PA

Obtain Track Access (if req.)

Secure Train

Conduct fault finding
… if can’t fix …

Return to train

Fill out DRA

Dictate to TC

A

Take DRA, red hand signal, and mobile DTRS to rear or advance (whichever advised)

Go 500m or next fixed signal from train

Contact TC and let them know you’re ready

How then do you pass home?

A

If the disabled train is in the section in advance and there is no low speed aspect.

Exception becomes Track Circuited no LS or CO so you require verbal from Controlling Signaller and/or green hand signal from CE

Pick up driver

Contact TC to get authority to pass last fixed signal at Stop
