what is the role of the police
they work with courts to ensure defendants are brought before them, they give evidence in court, they work with probation in managing early releases, they work with the cps in trying to charge and prosecute offenders
what is the role of the cps
they advise the police on charging a suspect, they check evidence and see whether theres enough to arrest someone,they appear in court to advocate for a case
what is the role of probation service
they arrest prisoners recalled to prison whilst on probation, they liase with police should there be any issues whilst a person is on probation,they work with charity orginisations to help prisoners leave successfully
what are the relationships between the cjs
a criminal law is made, the police will then investigate criminal activity and arrest criminals, the cps advises the police on appropriate change, the suspect is brought before the court, the defendant is then released on bail or remanded into custody, a guilty plea results in a sentencing, a non guilty plea results in a trial including a judge and jury,if convicted a formal punishment is given
