People became more accepting that people may be gay or lesbian during the 20th century.

In the 1930s smoking was accepted and even encouraged by doctors. In the 1950s research about smoking causing cancer occurred making society’s view on smoking more deviant.

The social change on smoking led to many new laws being introduced banning smoking in certain places and even advertisement of cigarettes.
When and how have society’s views on women’s rights changed?
At the beginning of the 20th century women had very few legal and political rights. However over time women fought for their rights (1928 right to vote).

The social change on women’s rights led to women being allowed more rights due to the government allowing them to vote, work and nowadays be able to have a voice in parliament.
