What is Acetylsalicylsäure commonly known as?
Acetylsalicylsäure is commonly known as Aspirin.
What type of medication is Acetylsalicylsäure?
It is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAR).
What is the main mechanism of action of Acetylsalicylsäure?
It irreversibly inhibits cyclooxygenase enzymes.
What does the inhibition of cyclooxygenase enzymes lead to?
It leads to the inhibition of thromboxane A2 synthesis in platelets.
What is the onset and duration of effect of Acetylsalicylsäure?
Onset is approximately 10 minutes, duration is about 2-3 hours, and effect can last up to 7 days.
What is a primary indication for Acetylsalicylsäure?
Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS).
What is the recommended dosage of Acetylsalicylsäure?
250 mg slowly intravenously or an oral form; no repetition.
What are some contraindications for Acetylsalicylsäure?
Known allergy to ASS or other NSAR, current internal bleeding, trauma with risk of non-compressible bleeding, bleeding tendency, current gastric or duodenal ulcer, suspected acute aortic syndrome, asthma attack, severe liver and kidney dysfunction, and pregnancy (especially in the third trimester).
Is there an age restriction for the use of Acetylsalicylsäure?
Yes, it should not be used by emergency medical technicians in patients under 18 years old due to the risk of Reye’s syndrome in children.
