Acid base titration Flashcards
(1 cards)
Describe an experiment for acid base titration finding the concentration of acid
Rinse a 25cm3 pipette with distilled water to remove unwanted chemicals
Rinse the pipette with an alkali with a known concentration
Rinse a conical flask with distilled water to remove unwanted chemicals
The droplets of distilled water do not need to be removed because they wont interfere with the experiment
Place the conical flask next to a beaker containing the alkali
Extract 25cm3 of the alkali using a pipette from the beaker making sure the bottom of the meniscus is level with the 25cm3 mark and place it into the conical flask, add a few drops of indicator (methyl orange as it is yellow in alkali and red in acid)
Then rinse a burette with distilled water then rinse with the acid.
Using a funnel fill the burette with the acid you want to measure remove the funnel to prevent any more droplets of the acid
