Describe a procedure for preparing a standard solution
(Weighing)
Take a weighing boat and place it in the balance
Tare the balance(set it to zero)
Carefully weigh out the required mass of a substance
Record the required number of decimal places
Describe a procedure to transfer the mass to a volumetric flask
Transfer the amount to a 100cm3 beaker
Add approx 50-75cm3 of distilled water from a water bottle to dissolve it
Use some distilled water to rinse all the solid off the weighing boat into your beaker. Do this at least twice.
Stir with stirring rod until all the sold has dissolved and then transfer the solution to a 250cm3 volumetric flask using a funnel
Use distilled water to wash the beaker and the glass rod and add the washings to the volumetric flask. Do this at least twice.
Procedure post transferring an amount to a volumetric flask
Fill to the mark using a teat pipette to ensure that the bottom of the meniscus is on the graduation mark
Put the lid of the flask and invert the flask several times to ensure the solution is homogenous and thoroughly mixed
