ACS Flashcards
(21 cards)
What is Acs
Absent blood flow to the myocardium causing ischaenia of the muscle
STEMI
Death of myocardium due to lack of blood flow through a coronary artery
In ECG - shoes st elevation and 2 contiguous ends that indicate immediate treatment needed
Symptoms of STEMI
severe chest pain,cold sweat,SOB
NSTEMI
Heart attack due to partial blockage of coronary artery.
No st elevation shown but T wave inversion
Elevated cardiac markers (troponin)
Symptoms of NSTEMI
Chest pain
Raised troponin
Unstable Angina
Myocardial ischaemia without elevation in cardiac marked or st elevation
Only known with chest pain
Symptoms of ACS (CHEST PAIN)
-chest pain
-heavy pain
-extreme pain
-sweating
-tachycardia
-palpitation
-anxiety
-nausea/dizziness
DIAGNOSIS OF ACS
-history of symptoms
ECG
ANGIOGRAM
RISK FACTOR ASSESMENT
troponin elevation
Stress test
Echocardiogram
Thrombolysis assesments
What does the angiogram check for
Blockages in hearts arteries
What risk factor assessment
Qrisk3
What does the echocardiogram check for
Heart function
Medication for ACS
Morphine
Oxygen
Nitrates
Aspirin
Beta blockers
Ace inhibitors
Statins
Heparin
What does nitrates do
Vasodilates
What does heparin do
Stop blood clits
What does ace inhibitors do
Lowers BP and stress
Beta blockers function
Slows heart rate and strain
What do statins do
Lower cholesterol
Nursing intervention short term (ACTION)
