Q

Pathogenesis of congenital adrenocortical hyperplasia?

A
  • Group of autosomal recessive disorders
  • Deficiency/lack of enzyme required for steroid biosynthesis
  • Altered biosynthesis leads to increased androgen production
  • Reduced cortisol stimulates ACTH release and cortisol hyperplasia (10-15x normal weight)
