The Nile river is the world’s longest river, with a length of 6,695 km. It flows through ten different countries from its source to the Mediterranean sea.

The Great Rift valley is a deep, wide trench that stretches from north Africa all the way down to Mozambique in south-east Africa.
What is the variety in depth and width of the great rift valley? What is it a result of?
It’s depth varies from several hundred to several thousand metres and it’s width from 30 to 100km.It is a result of massive earth movements millions of years ago, which are still occurring.

Mount Kilimanjaro is Africa’s highest mountain. It is an old volcano and though located close to the equator, it’s summit has a permanent snow cap.
Describe Africa’s wildlife.
Wildlife is plentiful. Huge herds migrate across the plains and lions, rhinos, giraffes, zebras, and elephants may all be seen in east Africa.

Much of East Africa is volcanic, with earthquakes and volcanoes being less common then in the past, but remains of volcanoes still visible.

The Victoria Falls on the Zambezi river is the largest waterfall in Africa. The falls are over 1.5km wide and 108 high. The spray can be seen from upto 50km away.

The Congo rainforest is the world’s second largest rainforest. It contains many trees and plants and is full of wildlife and insects.
What is the world’s largest hot desert and what does it cover?
The worlds largest hot desert is the Sahara desert. It overs most of North Africa and is almost as large as the USA.
