What is an ‘agent of change’?
An external group such as government , council, a business, or community group that tries to change a place
What are the 3 types of agents?
1) government (and its policies)
2) transnational corporations (e.g. cadburys)
3) international organisations
Examples of GOVERNMENT as an agent:
Building a new runway at Heathrow airport, giving permission for ‘fracking’ for fossil fuels to take place
Examples of TNCs:
Jaguar Land Rover invest in a car factory
BT close their call center in UK and move to India
Examples of INTERNATIONAL ORGANISATIONS:
UN emergency aid center in Haiti
World health organisation sets up health center in Tanzania
What is a philanthropist?
A person who helps others by the generous donation of money to good causes. It was very common in the Victorian era. Examples include Taylor Swift, Leonardo D’caprio

Positives changes made in bournville:
- social welfare and reform
- big gardens for houses
- mix of different people making it diverse
- made up of 7800 homes, with 1000 acres of land in total, 10% of this space is dedicated to parks and open spaces
- new houses for their workers, good living conditions
- Cadbury family worked tirelessly to ensure slavery was abolished and that their workers farming cocoa beans abroad were paid, long before fair trade
- sports pitches and swimming pools there

Negatives to the area of bournville:
- house prices are so high, so expected to pay top dollar for a house there meaning younger people cant afford it
- usually high level of control
