S/S of poor ventilation?
RR <10 >30 Irregular pale or cyanotic mucus membranes altered LOC Poor SpO2 - ears, gums, belly
S/S of poor ventilation Tx?
Suction prn Blow by O2 BVM Assist with K9 Mask Intubate non-patent airways consider antiemetics for uncontrolled vomiting
S/S of tension pneumothorax tx?
Chest seal
NDC
9th intercostal space
2/3 distance from spine to best of abdomen
angle needle towards head then opposite wall of body
Significant bleeding - limb?
TQ as high as possible
Significant bleeding - tail?
Pressure dressing
Moderate to severe bleeding medication?
TXA
K9 TXA indication?
Injury < 3 hours with S/S shock
K9 TXA dose?
10 mg/kg in 100 ml NS over 15 min
K9 Antiemetics?
Zofran
Maxeran
K9 Zofran dose?
8 mg PO/IV
K9 Maxeran dose?
10mg IM
K9 S/S of shock tx?
Ensure bleeding controlled
1000 ml NS IV
K9 Fluid with no S/S of shock?
500 ml SQ
Scruff of neck
needle bevel away from dogs head
handler hold needle in place
K9 S/S of allergic reaction?
Swelling of body or face Hives Vomiting Itchiness Agitation
K9 Allergic reaction med?
Benadryl
K9 Benadryl dose?
1 mg/kg IM
K9 Allergic reaction involving airway?
Epi 1:1000 1 mg IM q 5 max of 5 mg
K9 Opiate exposure?
Narcan 0.01 mg/kg IM or IV q 2-4 min
K9 Stimulant exposure?
Follow sedation protocol
K9 Sedative exposure?
Supportive care
K9 Pain control?
Morphine 10 mg IM or IV q 5 max 50 mg
K9 Sedation?
Midazolam 10 mg IM or IV q 5 max of 50 mg
K9 max reached on Morphine and Midazolam?
2 mcg/kg Fentanyl

Chest compressions Airway management IV access Epi 4 mg 1:1000 q 3-5 min Atropine 2 mg IV q 3-5 max 2 doses
