“There are millions of Eva and John Smiths

A

To indicate how all Birling’s have mis-used and mistreated their power and behaviour was irresponsible in general not just to Eva but could have happened to more than 1 working class women.

Doesn’t matter who the individual is, but they have done wrong to working class women

Q

Inspector “Goole” name

A

Play on word Ghoul sounds supernatural. We don’t know if he’s a real character leaves off at a cliff-hanger. Omniscient to bring justice to Eva. Wonder what the real inspector would do. Reflects Priestley’s aim of social message
