Air Removal (AR) Flashcards

1
Q

What radiation monitor (and channel) places the Air Removal system in THRU FILTER mode?

A

Ru-141 Channel A (1)
If high radiation is detected at the AR discharge, the discharge valves will realign and redirect flow
through the post filter unit. (no lights while repositioning or not aligned correctly, need blower started and all 3 valves in correct position)

Q

When will the “D” Air Removal Pump, ARN-P01D, automatically start and shift the suction valve (UV-14, UV-15, and UV-16 respectively) to a condenser shell with low vacuum?

A

Auto after stop (green flag on the control switch), AND
* Low vacuum in the respective condenser shell:
* 4.2” HgA in Condenser A (PSH-53)
* 4.8” HgA in Condenser B (PSH-54)
* 5.3” HgA in Condenser C (PSH-55)

Q

What is the logic sequence for starting an Air Removal pumps (A/B/C)?

A

Breaker closes starting pump, open permissive sent to suction valves (opens when dp=1.5#), start signal sent to seal water recirculation pump, pumps discharge stop check valve opens as discharge pressure builds.

Q

What does taking the Hand switch for the Air Removal Pump to Start do?

A

Breaker will close starting the air removal pump,
Open permissive signal is sent to the pump’s suction isolationvalve,
Start signal is sent to the associated seal water recirculation pump.

Q

What does taking the Hand switch for the Air Removal Pump to Stop do?

A

Associated breaker will open, stopping the AR pump,
Close signal is sent to the pump’s suction isolation valve,
Stop signal is sent to the associated seal water recirculation pump.
