Gold standard for diagnosis of bacterial vaginosis
Gram stain of vaginal discharge
Criteria for bacterial vaginosis (3 out of 4)
- Thin homogeneous vaginal discharge
- > 20% clue cells on wet mount
- pH >4.5 (highest sensitivity)
- Positive amine test or whiff test (highest specificity)
Oral and outpatient treatment for PID
Ceftriaxone 250mg IM once or Cefoxitin 2g IM once AND probenecid 1g PO
Plus
Doxycycline 100mg PO BID for 14days
