Commas around “last” places emphasis on it. Suggests speaker is irritated that he is last, despite the rationality of her actions

He does not like the roles of their relationship, he feels emasculated by her, and he feels overly dependant on her, so he kills her.

He feels emasculated, and feels she is too dominant in their affair

She now fits the victorian expectations of women, which he likes
