All Ive ever known, song lyrics Flashcards
(1 cards)
In every breath there’s life
Between my teeth a knife
Pronounced us man and wife
For evermore
‘Cause once you’ve found your thrill
You move in for the kill
I’d chase you up the hill
And all through time
And now my memory
Seems to be failing me
What once was fantasy
Is all I’ve ever known
The thing I miss the most
Lives in some demon host
I know you’re not a ghost
Just down the street
I am a spinning man
A living ceiling fan
If two could only hang
In the same room once again
And now my memory
Seems to be failing me
What once was fantasy
Is all I’ve ever known
In every breath there’s life (contrast, how everytime people breathe, it shows how they are alive, then later my guy makes himself sound like an object, most likely meaning to hang himself) Spinning man: dizzy
Between my teeth a knife: words that I said that ended up stabbing me, because i said and thought we were man and wife, forever.
When our passionate love hits a climax, and what is left is the aftermath of the exhilaration, and like how the brightest stars burn the fastest, your love for me faded. Then, you abandoned me, and I am slowly forgetting our memories together. I still chase the memories of you and you physically, up the hill because it is arduous, and i like the use of ‘all through time.’ All makes the feat seem like the author has been chasing for a long time and despite all the difficulties, continues chasing. Through makes it sound like time is going against him, even though i know its just proper grammar. The phrase is show not tell, because it is showing the author trying to go against time which steals people’s memories, to get back the memories of his lover. The thing I miss the most, the love they once had, demon host. Demon is about how cruel his lover was, inflicting pain on him by leaving their relationship. Host because the lover is the one that holds the love that she once gave him.
I know you’re not a ghost (he is trying to convince himself because he is forgetting, or that he is saying that the memories of their time spent together felt so real, their love so genuine that he knows she is real, she has to be real or he might be in disbelief. Or maybe she ghosted him, and is trying to tell her that she is not a ghost, not supposed to do that.)
Just down the street (not some rando that he had fallen for because he believed their love was sacred.)
I am a spinning man (either transforming into a fan, haha or that he is dizzy from trying to gain back the memories) or he is confused now that she left him
A living ceiling fan (is he showing that he is trying to swing every way to find the memories)
If two could only hang
In the same room once again (they once spun together?? I know the same room because it means to coexist together, to be together again
And now my memory
Seems to be failing me
What once was fantasy (the word once means that their relationship which was a fantasy for him, has now gone downhill and is now in flames as all went to hell.) change
Is all I’ve ever known (he was so in love that he forgot everything else that was going on around him, he was so focused on his lover and their love that now that it’s gone, it feels like it was all he ever had.)
Once could be trying to belittle their relationship, so author uses contrast to show that he had no control over the fact that what they once were mattered alot to him.
