Q

How can higher level radioactive waste be disposed?

A

They have to be removed from the reactors and taken to sellafield in the UK. Uranium and other radioactive waste is then separated out to leave only usable radioactive waste

Q

What factors need to be considered when looking into a site to store radioactive waste?

A

.The geology of an area-the ground must be geologically stable so there is little chance of underground displacement
.Unemployment figures in the area-jobs will be created
.The availability of land, which has to be bough for the site
.The potential strength of local pressure groups
.The technology that will be necessary to ensure safe transport, storage and security
.Noise and disruption during construction
.The effect on farming activities
