aim+impacts of unrestricted u-boat warfare
aim = cut off neutral ships supplying allies -> starve britain b4 blockade defeated germany
impacts = caused food shortage in britain / ships destroyed w/ american ppl on it -> anti german sentiment + tensions between USA and germany

Impacts of the Zimmerman Telegram
Zimmerman telegraph = US entry to WW1
-Kaiser concerned abt US entering ww1 -> plan to distract them
-get Mexico to go to war w/ USA - keep out of euro war / Ger promised Mex troops, supplies + all land back if they declared war on USA / Requested sent in the form of telegram - h/w it was intercepted -> contents published in US newspaper -> more support for war
-6th April 1917 - President Woodrow Wilson declared war on Ger but would take a year until fully mobilized
impact of the sinking of the Lusitania and the Arabic
-sinking of Lusitania -> immediately strained relations b/w ger + neutral USA + fueled anti-Ger sentiment
-ger declared water around brit isles a war zone + stopped following international naval conventions of warning ships of attack b4 attack -> angered + troubled the USA + the European Allies
-aug 1915, a ger sub sunk the british ocean liner S.S. Arabic and claimed self-defence -> this further strained relations b/w germany + USA
