Describe the battle of Bunker Hill and explain why the battle was important for the colonists

A

At the Battle of Bunker Hill, trained British troops fought against untrained colonists. The British attack came in three waves. The first two failed. The third attack succeeded only because the british troops ran out of ammunition. The battle is important for the colonists because even though the British won the battle, it proved that they could fight and stand up to professional British soldiers.

Q

Explain the British strategy in the South during the revolution. Describe its early success and eventual failure.

A

The British strategy in the south was to capture some city keys, win over the local population, and March north, acquiring on state after another. At first the plan seems work. The British took control of the most Georgians and South Carolina. However American guerrilla attacks eventually slowed the advance, and battle such as the battles Kings Mountain and the battle of Cowpens weakened the British Army. When Gen. Cornwallis headed to Yorktown, Virginia, the Continental Army with help from the French surrounded the British Army. By October 1781, the last of the British forces had been defeated.
