purpose of form 3
the police must deal with form 3 and provide person in writing as to where they are being taken

what happens once form 4 is complete
person can be admitted involuntarily to a psychiatric facility for further assessment
how many hours does form 4 allow for
72 hours
the 4 criteria for form 4 are
1) believed or known to have a mental disorder
2) BECAUSE of mental disorder, is at risk
- for serious harm to self
- serious harm to others
- at risk of substantial deterioration if left untreated
3) would benefit from treatment at psych facility
4) refuses voluntary admission or is not competent to consent
if a person chooses to exercise their right to silence how may a doctor perceive that
as paranoia, or lack of insight
