1

What is the definition of Relative atomic mass (Ar) ?

The mean mass of an atom of an element, divided by 1/12 of the mean mass of an atom of the carbon-12 isotope.

2

What is the definition of Relative molecular mass (Mr) ?

The mean mass of a molecule of a compound, divided by 1/12 of the mean mass of an atom of the carbon-12 isotope.

3

What is the definition of a mole ?

Is the amount of substance that contains the avogardo’s constant particles.

4

What is the ideal gas equation ?

pV=nRT
. Pressure in P
. Volume in m3 (cubed)
. n is the number of moles
. R is gas’s constant ( 8.31)
. Temperature in K ( add 273)

5

When under standard conditions, what 3 certain trends do gases and volatile liquids follow ?

. Pressure is proportional to temperature ( Gay-Lussac’s law)
. Volume is proportional to temperature. ( Charles’s law)
. Pressure and volume are inversely proportional.

6

What is Boyle’s law ?
Ideal gas equation

Pressure times volume= constant

7

What is Charles’s law ?
Ideal gas equation

Volume is proportional to temperature.

8

What is Gay-Lussac’a law?
Ideal gas equation

Pressure is proportional to temperature.

9

What is the definition of empirical formula?

The simplest whole number ratio of atoms of each element in a compound.
It is found by using molar ratios of each element.

10

What is the definition of molecular formula?

The true number of each atom in the molecule.
It can be determined by using Mr of the empirical formula and the tire Mr of the molecule.

11

What is the equation for percentage yield?

% yield = experimental mass/ theoretical mass TIMES 100.

12

What is the equation for atom economy ?

Atom economy = Mr of desired product/ Mr of all reactants TIMES 100.

13

What does high atom economy mean ?

There is little or no waste products and so is more economically viable for industrial scale manufacturing.
It also means less natural resources are used so used less energy.

14

What is mm to cm ?

Divide by 10

15

What is cm to m ?

Divide by 100

16

What is m to km ?

Divide by 1000

17

What is mg to g ?

Divide by 1000

18

What is g to kg ?

Divide by 1000

19

What is kg to tones ?

Divide by 1000

20

What is cm3 to m3 ?

TIMES by 10 to the power of -6.

21

What is KPa to Pa ?

TIMES by 1000

22

What is degrees Celsius to K ?

Add 273
