What is summary?
A
A short text written in the writer’s own words or a brief understanding of the main points of a text source

What is the importance of summaries?
A
- Prepares the reader - Helps the reader to identify the main ideas of a text source
- Key points - Helps the reader to locate key points in an extract
- Description - Allows the reader to describe what they have read without any evaluation or analysis

How can we write a good summary?
A
- Only write the most important points as they’re the main idea
- Do not judge or add your own opinion
- Keep it brief, short, to the point, and don’t repeat the ideas
- Make sure it flows by using sentence connectors and transition words
