Anatomy 1 - Back/Chest muscles Flashcards
(45 cards)
Origin of sternocleidomastoid?
- Superior anterior surface of manubrium
- Superior surface of medial third of clavicle
Insertion of sternocleidomastoid?
- Mastoid process of temporal bone (lateral)
- Nuchal line of occipital bone
Function of sternocleidomastoid?
- Elevation of clavicle and manubirum of sternum (at sternoclavicular joint)
- F, lateral F, E of neck
- contralateral rotation of the head
Origin of subclavius?
Junction of first rib and its cartilage (costal cartilage)
Insertion of subclavius?
Posterior inferior surface of middle third of clavicle
Function of subclavius?
Depresses clavicle down and forward at the sternoclavicular joint
Origin of teres major?
Inferior angle of scapula
Insertion of teres major?
Intertubercular groove of the humerus
Function of teres major?
- E, ADD, IR, horizontal ABd of the arm (humerus) at the shoulder joint
- Stabilises shoulder/glenohumeral joint
Origin of teres minor?
Lateral border of scapula
Insertion of teres minor?
Greater tubercle of humerus
Function of teres minor?
- ER, ADD, horizontal ABd of arm at shoulder joint
- stabilises shoulder/glenohumeral joint
Origin of infraspinatus?
Infraspinous fossa of posterior surface of scapula
Insertion of infraspinatus?
Greater tubercle of humerus
Function of infraspinatus?
- ER, horizontal ABd of arm at shoulder joint
- Stabilises shoulder/glenohumeral joint
Origin of supraspinatus?
Supraspinatous fossa of scapula
Insertion of supraspinatus?
Greater tubercle of humerus
Function of supraspinatus?
- ABd of arm at shoulder joint
- Stabilises shoulder/glenohumeral joint
Origin of serratus anterior?
Ribs 1-9
Insertion of serratus anterior?
Medial border of scapula
Function of serratus anterior?
- Depression, abduction, upward rotation of the scapula at the scapulothoracic joint
- Elevation of ribs when scapula fixed
Origin of subscapularis?
Subscapular fossa of scapula
Insertion of subscapularis?
Lesser tubercle of humerus
Function of subscapularis?
- IR of arm at shoulder/glenohumeral joint
- Prevents anterior displacement of humerus (stabilises shoulder joint)
