(7 cards)
What are the 7 functions of the skeleton?
Support
Protection
Movement
Shape
Muscle attachment
Mineral storage
Blood cell production
What are the 9 muscle pairs?
- Bicep brachii and tricep brachii
- Bicep femoris and rectus femoris
- Tibial is anterior and gastrocnemius and soleus
- Illiopsoas and gluteus maximus
- Adductor longus and brevis and glutes medias minimus
- Anterior deltoid and posterior deltoid
- Medial deltoid and lattisimussdorsi
- Wrist extensors and wrist flexors
- Pectoralis major and teres minor
What is the role of a fixator muscle?
The muscle that stabilises the joint where the origin of agonist sits. It helps the agonist function efficiently.
What is the origin and insertion of muscles?
The origin is the attachment site that doesn’t move during contraction.
The insertion is the attachment site that does move when the muscle contracts.
What is isotonic?
The muscle is changing length while exerting a force.
What is concentric isotonic?
Muscle shortens under pressure.
What is eccentric isotonic?
The muscle is not changing length while exerting a force.
