What is gross anatomy?
Gross Anatomy is anatomy that you can see and touch with your hands and eyes.
What is systemic anatomy?
One body system at a time. EX, Cardiovascular system
What is regional anatomy?
Regional anatomy is the study of the structure and organization of specific body regions, EX, neck, trunk, or limbs.
Etiology
Study of causes, origins, or reasons behind the way that things are. EX, Diabetes; Lifestyle, Genetics, etc…
Etymology
Study of the origin of words
4 Main types of tissue
Epithelial tissue covers and lines body surfaces, forming barriers and glands.
Connective tissue supports and binds other tissues, including bone, blood, adipose tissue, and cartilage.
Muscle tissue contracts to produce movement, including skeletal, smooth, and cardiac.
Nervous tissue transmits and receives electrical signals consisting of neurons and neuroglia.
What is anatomical position?
Palms facing forward and thumbs up in the air, a supine position.
What is the plane that cuts the body into upper and lower halves?
Transverse, Horizontal, and Axial planes
What plane cuts the body into anterior and posterior halves?
Coronal and Frontal planes
What plane cuts the body into left and right halves?
Sagittal plane
