What kind of art did Anglo-Saxons produce? + Give an example
-Anglo-Saxons produced art which included highly decorated manuscripts of the Bible and Gospels, and carved stone crosses with scenes from the Bible.
-The Alfred Jewel likely made in AD 890 is the finest surviving example of Anglo- Saxon art featuring high-quality enamel , surrounded by intricate metal work in gold.
What was the Bayeux Tapestry influenced by?
-The Bayeux Tapestry was heavily influenced by Anglo-Saxon design.
What stories did Anglo-Saxon poets write about?
- Anglo-Saxon poets told stories about brave warriors, monsters and dragons. Beowulf was one of the most famous stories.
-Beowulf was set in Scandinavia , but was very popular in the eleventh century
-Beowulf is read today and new versions are still being written

- We know little about Anglo-Saxon towns because buildings made of wood rotted away. Historians have to rely on archaeological evidence to find out about them.
