Digital governance (Hanisch et al.)
- A distinct type of governance with digital technology driving the governance
- Analogue governance: Centralised control, human-based, hierarchal
- Augmented governance: Human + tech
- Automated governance: Decentralized, algorithmic
Map (Krygier & Wood)
- Maps are not representations of reality, but propositions / arguments about the world
- Maps are not neutral and suggest how you can view the world
Blanka et al. (digital transformation)
- Digital transformation is not only about technology, but also human competencies
- Employees can enable transformation
Three phases in employee competency:
* Intent: insight and proactivity
* Action: ideas and coorporation
* Implementation: innovation and market knowledge
Kunda et al.
Data governance.
Janssen et al.
- Big Data Algorithmic Systems (BDAS)
- Data governance: governance with life cycle of data and algorithms
Three governance structures emphasises on:
* Planning and control: goals, budgets, control
* Organisational: structure, responsibility, accountability (decision-making structures in the areas of data through toplevels)
* Risk-based: Identify and assess risks (bias, hallucinations)
Data stewardship: is responsible for data quality
GOAL: increase accountability, transparency, and trust
Data Management at Scale (Strengholt)
- Data should be central in strategy, culture, and decision making
- No to centralising and monolithic structures (data lakes = raw data storage)
- Mix between data mesh (people, domains, accountability) and data fabric (tech, metadata, integration)
Data Mesh (Deghani)
- Organisational approach in sourcing, managing, and accessing data for analytical use cases at scale
- Results in increased scalability, agility, and business value
4 principles:
* Domain owned data (for BU’s)
* Data as a product (established owners, accountability, quality control)
* Self-Serve data platform (domain teams can independently produce and use data)
* Computational federated governance (automised and distributed data management = comply with standards without a bottle neck)
AI governance (Birkstedt)
Governance and processes to ensure the use of AI complies with strategy, compliance, ethics
Data Catalog (Olesen-Bagneux)
- Enterprise data catalog: Internal search engine that enables finding and understanding available data efficiently
- Results in data discovery, good data governance (access control), innovation
