Q

Movement

A

Repeated motif of the three women holding arms in a circle and rejecting the other women who crouches to the floor with her head down
The reject male is always looking at the rejected female when she is outcasted by the other women.
The 3 men get on one knee and put their hand out and the 3 women run over and lie on their backs with their head in their hand in a submissive way – gender norms in relationships – repeated
The rejected women spins with her arms out and head back – childish as the man watches. She stops to see the couples dancing - when one of the men notice her he pushes his partner away and dusts himself off
At the end its only the rejected couple left, she is in her crouch position and he is about to walk off but she raises her hand and he rolls his eyes and walks over and puts her on his shoulder, she looks up and smiles at the audience – shes finally been accepted? – in the relationship

Q

Analyse the movement of the isolated woman

A

Awkward/ non traditional dance movement
In her crouch position - closed off/ self inflicted
Spinning around with her arms out and head thrown back and the skipping - childlike/ carefree/ in her own world
Doesn’t know how to act like the other women - when the man helps her up she slaps him
