Q

Hot Big Bang Theory o the Universe, what are the main pieces of evidence for it?

A

Red-Shift (Doppler shift)
- Theory predicts that all galaxies are moving away from us
-The further away the galaxy is the faster it moves away from us
-Hubble’s Law
v=HoD

CMBR:
-Theory predicts black body radiation at microwave wavelengths
from all directions which indicates that the Universe was once in a very hot dense state.
-Graph shows a peak in the microwave region
-No other theory predicts the CMBR

Ratio of Hydrogen to Helium in the Universe
-3:1 ratio roughly in deep space

Q

What does it mean when it says the rays on the telescope must be non-axial?

A

It means the rays MUST NOT be parallel to the principle axis

Q

How do you show spherical aberration in a telescope?

A

You show that the rays from the objective lens so not converge at the same point.
The rays from further out from the principle axis converge close to the objective lens than the rays that are closer to the Principle axis.

Q

How do you show Chromatic Aberration in a telescope?

A

You show how the to rays split up into the blue light ray and the red light ray and how they are refracted by the objective lens by different amount.
The blue light ray is refracted more than the red light ray (I know how to work this out due to paper 1.) Good.
