What is a Reflex Point

A

Indications

A
  1. Its a microsystem working locally and systemically depending on the
    points used ie. reflex or master pt.
  2. Auriculotherapy can be applied for pain management, hormonal disorders, mood/sleep disorders, stress management, NADA (Addictions), relaxation response using both Master points and Reflex points together

Sympathetic
Autonomic
Shen Men
Endocrine
Point Zero
Thalamus
Allergy

When to use the Right ear or Left ear?

A

~ Local pain use same-side ear as the pain

~ For all other cases ie. Hormonal disorders/Calming Effect use the
patients dominant side

How do you know what points to use?

A

~Corresponding body area where the pain or disease is

~ Zang Fu Differentiation

~Master Points that regulate/normalize a system or interaction of
systems
ie. Master Points and Motor Points with endocrine and Omega 2

~Discolouration/Disfiguration of an area of the ear

~Active points detected by electronic sensor or probing

~Based on symptoms

~Established protocols such as NADA or Battlefield Acup

~Physiological or biochemical mechanisms of the related tissue/organ
ie. Pituitary to regulate steroid hormones

Needle Insertion Protocol

A
  1. Wash your hands
  2. Clean patients ear with alcohol wipes
  3. Use your hands to place needles, seeds, pellets, tacks etc.
    4.Inform patient to keep needles there for up to 4 days but if the ear
    becomes irritated, painful or swollen to remove with tweezers and
    to contact you

Contraindications and Cautions

A
  1. Can be points being used ie. don’t use the Uterus point if patient is
    pregnant
  2. Patients with compromised systems ie. Diabetics can be at higher
    risk of infection and then using non invasive pellets is more
    beneficial. EAR INFECTIONS ARE DIFFICULT TO MANAGE IN
    HEALTHY PATIENTS!! Due to the limited vascularization and blood
    supply of the ear cartilage, making the risk of immune compromised
    patients high risk for infections
    3.Vaccaria Seeds may not be sterile and have been linked to infections
    from ear seeds
