Q

What is the general limitation regarding the use of autopilot and or the FD during an approach on OPEN DES or DES mode ?

A

The AP or FD in OPEN DES or DES mode can be used in the approach. However, it’s use is ONLY permitted the FCU selected altitude is set to , or above , the higher of the two; MDA/MDH or 500 ft AGL

Q

What is the maximum wind conditions for CAT2 or CAT 3 ILS Automatic Approach, landing and Rollout?

A

HW 30 kts
XW 20 kts
TL 10 kts

320 Sharklets
XW 15kts ( with auto rollout )

321
HW 40 CAT 2
30 CAT 3

XW 25 CAT 2
20 CAT 3

TW 10 kts

Note : wind limitation is based on the surface wind reported by the tower. If the wind displayed on the ND exceeds the above mentioned limitations, but the tower reported wind is within limitations, then the autopilot can remain engaged. If the tower now reports a surfacewind beyond limitations only CAT 1 automatic approach without auto land can be performed
Refer to RCAM xx-9EY for EY / state limitation

16
Q

What is the permissible flap/slat configuration for a CAT2/CAT3 ILS with one engine inoperative ?

A

320 CONF FULL

321 CONF 3 or FULL

17
Q

What are the specific limitations applicable to automatic landings in regards to engine out procedures?

A

A321 During automatic rollout with one engine inop the remaining thrust reverser can be used provided that :
Only IDLE reverse thrust is used
The XW does not exceed 15 Kts

320 Sharlets
Only IDLE reverse thrust used
XW 15 kts for Auto Rollout

18
Q

What are the mandatory precautions that must be taken if performing an automatic landing in CaT 1 or better weather conditions ( Practice LVP Apprach autoland ?

A

Practice low vis approach and or autoland are only permitted on runways certified for LVP, with prior ATC coordination and assurance of protection against signal disturbance.

The crew is aware that LOC or GS beam fluctuations, independent of aircraft systems may occur and the PF is prepared to immediately disconnect the AP and take appropriate action should unsatisfactory guidance occur

At least CAT2 capability is displayed on the FMA and CaT 2/3 procedures are used

Visual reference are obtained at an altitude appropriate to the performed CAT 1 approach otherwise a go around is initiated

19
Q

What is the aircraft approach Category?

A

320 CAT C

321 CAT D
