Q

Can a CAT II/III (Autoland) approach be made with FMGCs in Independent Mode?

A

Yes, so long as both FG are valid.

AP can both be used, but will switch back to 1 AP for the MissAp, so the master FMGC should be valid and with up to date database.

7
Q

Why are V2 = 1.13 VS1G and VREF 1.23 VS1G?

A

As Airbus use a different stall speed to the regulators, VS1G.

VS = 0.94 VS1G

V2 = 1.2 × 0.94 VS1G = 1.13

VREF 1.3 × 0.94 VS1G = 1.23

Q

What are the three values of VLS?

When does a correction apply and why?

A

1.13 in TO/GA (=V2)
1.23 after initial flap retraction
1.28 when clean

Above FL200, to maintain 0.2g buffet margin

Also increases with speedbrake deflection

Q

What is the value of F speed in
relation to VS1G?

and S speed?

A

1.18-1.22 VS1G (of Conf 1+F)

Minimum flap retraction speed
Used as target when in Conf 2 or 3

1.22-1.25 VS1G (of Conf 1+F)
Minimum slat retaction speed
Used as target when in Conf 1

When can NAV mode be used

Take off (no GPS PRIM)
TMA (no GPS PRIM)
Overlay (no Navaid)
RNAV approach (no GPS PRIM)

A

May use if GPS primary lost so long as FMGS TO updating was performed

May use in TMA in RNP HIGH or raw data used to crosscheck

Overlays- navaid may be u/s GPS PRIM and if operationational approval obtained

RNAV approach- wihtout GPS PRIM if HIGH accruacy and operational approval
