The idea where people that reject racism still possess unconscious biases which appear in ambiguous situations

What are the key features of Aversive Racism?
Self-Perception is non-prejudiced. Unconscious negative bias. Its nature is avoidance rather than open hostility + subtle, more indirect forms of discrimination.
What causes Aversive Racism?
Conflict of egalitarian values and implicit bias.
When does bias appear?
In ambiguous situations with low accountability or in scenarios without clear social norms for fairness
What are some examples of Aversive Racism?
Hiring a white candidate over a minority that’s equally qualified, avoiding minority colleagues.
