Q

How do they work ?

A

At the enzyme the complimentary substrate attaches to the active site where the products are made

Q

What is the original idea?

A

Lick and key theory
Substrate had to fit perfectly into the active site

Q

How does temperature affect the function of enzymes ?

A

As the temp increases so does the rate of reaction due to higher Kentucky energy but if the temp is too high the enzymes denature meaning they loose their shape so the active site won’t work

Q

How do we know an enzyme has denatured ?

A

When it reaches the bottom of the graph but when the curve starts to dip it’s beginning to denature

Q

What is the optimum temperature ?

A

The highest temperature before denaturing happens

Q

How does the PH affect the rate of reaction

A

If it’s too high or too low it changes the shape of the enzyme so the active site stops working so it’s denatured

Q

What is optimal PH

A

Where the enzyme usually works which is usually around 7 but owns in the stomach are around 2 as the stomach is very acidic
