Behaviourist assumptions
A
- all behaviour is observable, measurable and objective
- studies under lab conditions
- believes that basic processes that govern learning are the same in both humans and animals
- born a blank slate of genetic influence

- behaviour is learnt through observation and imitation of others
- learning occurs directly through classical and operant conditioning

- Maslow and Rogers reject scientific models making general laws
- opt for a person-centered approach focusing on the individual subjective experience
- believe we are active agents who can determine our own development
