Serving in 5 steps.

A
  1. Continental grip and holding ball in fingertips. Place the ball slowly
  2. Get into good trophy position. Like those pictures you took in middle school. Make sure that your legs are bent.
  3. Use your legs to generate power. Push of the ground explosively as possible. Down up as quick as possible.
  4. Pronation. When you hit the ball you then turn your racket out and Palm to the right

With pronation, it’s almost like two swings. 45 degree angle and then end far out.

Backhand in 3 steps

A

1 turn body side on to the net. Get right shoulder pointed at other side.

  1. Get into a good back position. Get racket higher than the grip.
  2. Use legs to get into a good neutral position. Back leg had 80% of body weight. upon hitting transfer to the front and transfer to the front and rotate all the way through to a more square stance.

Returning a serve in two steps

A

A short backswing - it’s not a normal groundstroke. Think of blocking the ball instead of swinging. Imagine there’s a wall behind you and you’ll hit it if you go back to far.
Go forward to the ball

Go forward on the ball - go into the ball. Load into the outside leg and sort of jump out and forward if it’s an intense one. Otherwise go forward and into the ball

  1. Run the width of the court and back 3 times. Then rest for however long it takes to reach 30 seconds. Start doing this for 5 minutes and work to 20 minutes.

Tennis volleys in 3 steps

  1. Good ready position. Low, feet spread, racket higher than grip.
  2. Avoid big swings. Just go forward. And be a brick wall to the net.
  3. Use your body weight for power to go forward.

Forehand in five steps.

A

60% of the court should be covered with the forehand.

  1. Ready position - racket is higher than the grip. non hitting hand is either in the v or
  2. Good turn as soon as possible- belly button turned sideways. “Unit turn”
  3. Get into a good power position - non hitting hand is across the body and ready to pull away and open the shoulders.
  4. Point the bottom of the racket to the ball- the bottom leads the way to the ball in a super relaxed position. Drop the grip and the bottom is leading the way to the contact zone.
  5. A good finish- from the contact point, make sure you finish all the way across your body.
