What methods and equipment are used to make beer?

A

1 grain germinate

2 grain are dried with hot air in the kiln

3 malt is “cracked” in the mill

4 hot water added 65-66C making Wort

5 boiling wort for 13 hours with sugar and hops in a kettle/copper

6 cooling to 59-61 C

7 yeast Saccharomyces cerevisae added, fermenting for about seven days

(for lager, s. carlsbergensis is added, a bottom fermentation yeast, working at lower temperatures, takes longer time)

8 storage tank 3-21 days or in a

9 cask (draught beer)

10 pasteurization, bottling or kegging

Explain the terms of venting, tapping, stillage

A

venting: ventillation system over the boiler ?
tapping : transferring beer onto bootles or kegs
stillage : a wooden contraption that slightly raises the cask, so yeast can accumulate at the bottom, and the served beer runs clear
