BELIEFS ABOUT MEDICINES Flashcards

1
Q

Define CONCORDANCE

A

The notion that the work achieved in a consultation between a prescriber and the patient results from negotiation between equals.

They can agree to differ and this is better than the patient choosing non-compliance after the consultation. This allows for the Doctor-patient relationship to be based on openness and not misconception.

Q

Why was concordance introduced?

A

Around 50% of people with chronic illnesses didn’t take their medication. This was because they did not think it was appropriate or they had concerns about it
