Top 3 Scientists in Cell Discovery:

A

Robert Hooke – Coined the term “cell” after observing cork under a microscope (1665).
Anton van Leeuwenhoek – First to see living cells (bacteria, protozoa) using a simple microscope (1670s).
Rudolf Virchow stated that all cells come from pre-existing cells, completing the cell theory (1855)

Q

Why do we stain a specimen

A

Make it easier to see – Most cells are clear and hard to see without color.
Show cell parts – Stains help highlight things like the nucleus or cell wall.
Add contrast – Makes different parts of the cell stand out more clearly.

Q

Unicellular damage eco system

A

Less Food – Tiny organisms like algae are food for many animals. If they die, other animals can starve.
Less Oxygen – Some make oxygen. If they’re harmed, we get less air to breathe.
Dirty Environment – Some clean up waste. Without them, the environment gets dirty.
Poor Plant Growth – Some help plants grow by giving them nutrients. If they’re gone, plants don’t grow well.

Q

GAurd cells open close

A

✅ When Guard Cells Open Stomata:
Water enters the guard cells.
They swell up and curve.
This makes the stomata open.
Lets in carbon dioxide for photosynthesis and lets water vapor out.
❌ When Guard Cells Close Stomata:
Water leaves the guard cells.
They become floppy and shrink.
This makes the stomata close.
Helps the plant save water when it’s hot or dry.
