What does reproductive mean ?
The production of new organisms from the existing organisms of the same species
What are the two methods of reproduction ?
- Asexual reproduction
2. Sexual reproduction
What are Gametes ?
They are the special cells involved in sexual reproduction
What does Asexual mean ?
It means not involving the sex cells
What are the 4 methods of asexual reproduction ?
- Vegetative propagation
- Budding
- Fragments
- Spore formation
What is node ?
It is a point on the stem
What is Axil ?
Is the upper angle between a leaf stalk and the stem
What is bud ?
An undeveloped shoot
What is vegetative propagation ?
it is when new plants are formed from old plants
What are the two types of tubers ?
1, Stem tuber
2, root tubers
What are the 5 parts of an flower ?
- Receptacle
- sepal
- petals
- stamen
- pistil
What is the receptacle ?
The base of a flower to which all the parts of a flower are attached
What is the sepal ?
The green leaf - like part on the outer most circle of a flower
what are petals ?
the colorful parts of the flower
What is the stamen ?
It is the little stalks with the swollen tops just inside the ring of the petal in a flower
What is the pistil ?
The flasked shaped organ in the middle of the flower
What are unisexual flowers ?
They are flower which contain only one reproductive organ
What are bisexual flowers ?
The flower which contain both the reproductive organ
What is fertilization ?
It is the process in which the male gametes mix with the female gametes
What is germination ?
The process in which seeds begin to grow
