Strengths of drug therapy
Effective, ethical and easy to stop doing

Stilbesterol can cause breast development, feminisation and serious psychiatric disorders.
Drug therapy routines
Criminals have to take them ever day, but if they have a complicated lifestyle they will forgeth, reducing their impact.
Drug therapy labelling
Labels offenders as mentally ill rather than holding the accountable, creating excuses for their behaviour and reducing personal responsibility. Can also make them reliant on drugs to ‘not be criminal’
Drug therapy effort
Very little effort to take one pill a day rather than attending talking therapy sessions, this is more accessible to offenders
What is surgery
Alters offenders brains or bodies to prevent them from offending
What is surgical castration
A medical procedure to remove testicles
Treats sex offenders
Are surgical castrations used today
Yes, but not to reduce crime
Germany and Czech Republic use it
Surgeries being irreversable
If someone is found to be wrongly convicted, we cannot reverse their surgery and they will be affected for life
Surgery ethics
Reduces their human rights as they do not get a choice in the surgery (no consent and there is harm)
Surgery evidence
There is no evidence that surgeries prevent criminals from offending again in the future.
What is a lobotomy
popular in 1930 to treat schizophrenics but severing frontal lobe
Reduce violent crimes
Are lobotomies still used today
Rarely but it is still legal
What is eugenics
Removing the unfit or weak from society, to reduce crimes by working class
Eugenics racism
Can turn into segregation and discrimination of races, genders, and classes
Eugenics corruption
Can be used by corrupt leaders in a ‘legal’ sense, such as Nazi’s using eugenics on Jewish, black and disabled individuals to get a ‘pure’ Aryan race.
Is eugenics still used today
Illegal in UK and most of the world, some countries still use it (indigenous women in Canada), 2015 judge sterilised a mother of 6 who had disabilities
What is the death penalty
Ending a life by state execution (sentenced by government)
A deterrent from crime such as murder
