Q

Interphase

A

Before a cell can divide it needs to grow and increase the number of sub-cellular structure such as ribosomes and mitochondira. The DNA needs to replicate and create two copies of each chromosome.

Q

Three uses of meristems in plants

A
  • Produce clones of plants quickly and economically
  • Rare species can be clones to protect them from extinction
  • Crop plants with special features such as disease resitant can be cloned to produce large numbers of identical plants for farmers
