Q

What happens when a plant cell is placed in pure water?

A
  • water enters the cell by osmosis
  • as water have higher water potential and will diffuse into a region of lower water potential
  • through a partially permeable cell membrane
-cytoplasm and vacuole will swell and push outwards against cell wall
  • cell wall prevents it from bursting
    -turgid
