Augustine is known for writing ““most eagerly seized upon…the workds of the apostle Paul.” and in the midst of wreslting with a tortured conscience and profound doubt about his life’s direction, Augustine’s “bondage of…desire for sex” was broken when he read Romans
His writings exerted a profound infleunce on european civilaization for a thousand years, and his ideas still comman respect today.
