BISTABLES Flashcards

How will the HIGH Q output affect state of flip flop/latch?
When the Q output (Normal or True output) is HIGH, the Flip-flop is said to be in the SET or PRESET state.
How will the LOW Q output affect state of flip flop/latch?
When the Q output is LOW, the Flip-flop can be described as being in the CLEAR or RESET state.
What will happen if you apply S = 1 and C = 0 to a NAND latch?
Q will go LOW and NOT Q will go HIGH. Latch is in clear state.
What will happen if you apply S = 1 and C = 0 to a NOR latch?
Q will go HIGH and NOT Q will go LOW. Latch is in SET state.
What will happen if you apply S = 1 and C = 1 to a NAND latch?
Both SET and CLEAR would be in the resting state. No change to output Q or state of Latch
What will happen if you apply S = 0 and C = 0 to a NOR latch?
Both SET and CLEAR would be in the resting state. No change to output Q or state of Latch
